I agree with this 'new move' with employment.
Graduate jobs: University degrees no longer relevant to some employers
The 'problem' can be traced back to the poor standards within the teaching ranks. The lecturers/professors have aged or little real world experience and the students don't really get the benefit they are paying big bucks for. Too much theory and not nearly enough practical.
