Hello forum members,

Can anyone advise what is the cost of a new internet connection? Initial setup and monthly charges. Is a SIM card a better choice than a wired/satellite connection? I don't download movies, but I want a reasonable speed so I can skype and do assorted digital nomad stuff. Is it likely to be more than AUD $100/USD $65 per month? The location is within 500m of Jl. Raya Ubud - not too far from the Ubud Clinic.

Regards,

Kim

I'm not familiar with Sim card options and i am not in Ubud but costs depend upon what kind of service package you take up. I forget the initial charge for installing the satellite https://mncvision.id/service/contact This is a ink to the service provider we use.

We have a fairly basic package which includes internet / Australia Plus (ABC TV) so we get Aussie rules direct and news along with Singaporean, French and Indonesian news channels plus quite a few other local channels. It cost us about $40 (Aus) a month.

I hope that is helpful.

We have Indi home for $70.00 a month which includes a fairly wide variety of channels. We have excellent wifi in all rooms.
Set up costs etc no idea but not much. Penestanan is just outside Ubud so we are not far away.

So far I have gotten by very well using my phone as the network. You can get 50gb of data with a 30 day validity for Rp. 161k from Telkomsel. Usually enough for me, even with youtube streaming, etc.

Kim - I stay on and off in Denpasar , I use a "smartfren" dongle and you can pre pay 60GB of data for around 100,000. Coverage is fine in the city and major hubs, if you go out of the heart of the south the signal isn't great but it's cheaper than most of the competition.

https://iptvplix.com/ i use this for TV, it has all the western cable channels, doesn't have any Indonesian channels though. Not like I want to watch Sinetron all day anyway

Over 6 000 Channels ?????????????

Do you spend all your time flipping? Go crazy if you're a channel hopper.

no, I have 4-5 channels I like to watch, crime investigation, Investigation Discovery, AMC and the occasional news eg BBC, ABC USA depends my mood. Majority of the channels are foreign European languages that mean nothing to me.
