Gilbert, your comments make all the sense in the world to me but for those who cherish their pets the risk may be that pets are killed at entry rather than being denied entry. I don't know if the shocking reports I've read and heard of dogs being killed are true but having my pet euthanized at Gilamanuk isn't a chance I'd want to take. Still, it does seem that they could not legally kill the pet if the handler is willing to turn around and go back.

Exactly because of the risk some numbnut is patrolling the harbor, I always give the advice to NOT do it yourself, but have a reliable company take care of the transport. So the beloved pet goes from A to B in comfort and most important safe.

From UK Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs website.

Unlisted Countries Defra

Dogs and cats resident in an unlisted country entering the UK direct or via an non-EU country

A pet entering the UK from an unlisted country, whether directly or via a non-EU country, must be licensed into quarantine for six months on arrival. This must be arranged before the animal travels.
There's also a lot of information on the website about how to go about transporting your pet.

I think, you can send your dog to Jakarta from Bali. There a lot of ways to do that and you can go to the vet as well and asking him/ her to make a letter about your dog (Health statement).

my toy poodle from Jakarta to Ubud

Hi, it seems you succeeded in taking your dog from Jakarta to Bali. I would love to have your advise.

I am planning to escape from Tokyo to Ubud in Nov.2011 with my family and toy poodle, for fear of the nuke disaster.
My travel agency is able to let my dog out of Jakarta Quarantine on the arrival day. That's fine.
But I still cannot find good way to transport my dog from Jakarta to Bali. I know it's not legal and it takes something...:livid:

Would you please let me know how you made it? I would much appreciate your input.

Actually I have decided not to do it. My dog is a pug and I am afraid that the warm climate is too hot for him. I know that groovypets takes the dog for a fee. If you know someone local they can probably find someone who can do it cheaper than groovypets.

i agree.. use the car and give sleeping pill to the animal. but if the officer know, the animal will be killed.
I hope Bali will be free from rabies. so the transfer of animals will be easier

Tschelle, thanks for your input. I sent an email to groovypet for estimation.
I would rather risk myself in radioactivity contamination in tokyo than not take my poodle with me..........

Uhmmm on a sarcastic note, if you dog becomes contaminated before you leave, you will be able to use it as a "seeing all" dog, as it will hopefully glow in the dark, therefore making it very difficult for the poachers of western breeds to steal it!!!! use it for illegal breeding or on-sell at the animal market in Denpasar....If you do your homework; many, many expats have their beloved dogs stolen, even from behind high walls and security guards; why? because there is a black market for them here. Aso in the sate department, western dogs are said to be very tasty.... please take your dogs safety into consideration. :icon_e_sad:

We brought two dogs and a cat into Bali using Groovy. We now also have two Bali dogs and a Bali cat. Waaay too many pets but it's hard to do nothing knowing they won't live without help. I also would not have made the move to Bali without our pets.

Update!!!!

This was taken from a face book post, by Linda Buller of BARC dog refuge:

Ladies. another dog was baited yesterday morning in Umalas 1, its a huge cross Bali dog/Labrador, and I mean huge, he is a big big dog. Luckily the owners are smart Balinese, and fed him coconut milk, and he has lived. The owners said they know he was baited for meat as he is so big. They also said if they find the person they will deal their own justice. That makes now 5 dogs in 2 months in just Umalas 1, and there might be more at the other ends, as we live in the middle. God almighty when will it end... This dog also is locked up at night, he is only let out in mornings to socialise.

Ok makes you think, I hope......
