He could be charged with a lot more than that. He knew a permit was required for filming in Indonesia, but he did not apply for it, and went to Indonesia anyway. What was he "fishing" for? But, in a "backhanded way" he is actually helping the fight against corruption, not that he gives a shit about corruption, he is just looking to get better ratings.

So are you telling me if I come to Bali and "film" (or video) anything to record my vacation I need a permit?

What was he fishing for?
Just documenting the corruption and scams that we all know it endemic in Indonesia.
WTF does his ratings have to do with what played out? Did he cause the copper to accept a bribe?

The video is fact and the encounter would have played out the same way whether cameras were there or not.

If feel sorry for the original copper but because as I said before he is TOAST. Not for the bribe he took, but because he was caught and caused a loss of face for tourist police.

A week or so ago there was a thread here about a woman set up at the airport with drugs planted in her car. Was that for ratings too?

I'll wager that within three weeks everything will be back to business as usual except Police will be more careful looking for glasses/key chain cameras.

Van der Spek never come to Indonesia again.

Kita ingin mencoba masuk seperti tourist2 biasa.Kita dengan cepat menyalakan Iphone .

This guy is one of the team who made the video. He knew a permit was required to film a documentary, not a tourist filming his holiday. Yes, the video is fact that there is corruption in bea cukai, but the guy admits they knew they wouldn't get in, so why go without a permit? Fishing? No one condones corruption (except when we gain from it) :topsy_turvy::topsy_turvy:

..............

No, it is more that tourist visas say "no work" yet it is clear he was working as a journalist, and should have had a different visa.

Cops questioned after misconduct goes viral

BY K.E. FRANS ON 2013-04-05
Two traffic cops were relieved of their duty and grilled for hours on Thursday by Bali Police’s internal affairs division after taped footage of one of them extorting money from a traffic violator, which he later used to purchase bottles of beer that he shared with the very same violator, surfaced on YouTube and went viral.

“Yes, we have relieved them of their daily duties and they are still being quizzed by internal affairs investigators,” Bali Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Hariadi stated.

Hariadi, however, stressed that the internal affairs division had yet to place the officers in custody.

“So far, the two men have admitted that the incident took place five months ago.”

The policemen were identified as Adj. Second Insp. Komang Sarjana and Chief Brigadier Putu Indra Jaya. Both were assigned to a traffic post at LIO Square intersection in Petitenget, North Kuta.

The YouTube footage shows a foreign motorcyclist being escorted into the police post after being stopped for not wearing a safety helmet.
