The one in Jl 66 is nicely located for all the patrons of DoubleSix, La Vida Loca and so on. I bet the Kupu kupu malam will love it and embrace a new addition to go with their customers... 8)
Did somebody mention already Warung Kolega in Jl Petitenget? That's the best valued Javanese food I came across on Bali in the last 3 years.
It's very consistent every day, lot's of choices and fair prices. I love Warung Sulawesi also, but as a bule you sometimes pay (much) more than the...
The extension of the Sosial Budaya currently costs 250.000 Rupiah and it is possible to do that yourself. I would agree that it is exciting at first, but becomes frustrating pretty fast, especially when they send you around to different offices, just to carry documents back and forth for them. A...
The closest thing to a sauna I came across is the Angseri Hot Spring near Bedugul, which offers private cabins of hot steamy water and a small waterfall for cooling down.
Do that 3-5 times in a row and the effects are similar, and I'm sure even Mr. Kneipp could agree on its health effects.
milan and BaliLife, thanks for the heads up! Yeah, the last couple of months were quite busy with visitors here. Things normalized now, so expect me bugging you guys here some more...
A while ago I compiled a chart of Costs of Living for Bali with about 70-80 positions, covering housing, food, drinks and transport. If anyone is interested, it can be found here:

There is an article in the recent Bali Times, which claims, that it should be possible to get a SIM extension for Rp. 60.000 following a new programme to improve the handouts of those. There should be as well a Driving License center established in the former Kuta Police station, to reduce the...
Ah yes, one more thing. The rule in my country is that everyone has to work until age 67 (men) and pay bravely about 53% of their earnings to forced insurances, government retirement plans, unemployment and other welfare insurances.
Still you have to pay for most out-of-the-ordinary medicine...
I can understand where you guys are coming from. But still it has nothing to do with proper licensing, as it's only about the tea money. Nothing else.
SG you said yourself that when they caught a 'big fish' with 'deep pockets' they don't care about the rules or other (serious) traffic...
Hmmm, why do you want a local driving license at all?
It's anyway only about the money, as mentioned in the previous answers.
So why not just pay the 'on-the-spot-fine' if you get checked? It's probably cheaper to pay it 10 times a year than getting this ridiculous license issued, which is...
Yeah, internet is still not up to par here. The speed of my current XL 3G is quite okay for surfing and downloading smaller files.
Bigger files will bust my 1 GB limit sooner that I can say "oops" though. And over 2 GB it gets really expensive.
So yeah, I will indulge myself in Singapore's...
Thanks a million for the tips!
Yeah, free wife sounds great, but in what regards reliable then? Thinking about it, even a wife for free is rarely a freebie in the long run. Oha. ;-)
Allan, I would pay something, but don't like Global Extreme. I tried when I arrived and was disappointed...
Does anyone know of a good reliable Wifi Spot around the Legian/Seminyak area? I'm planning to do a lot of up/downloads in the range of a few GByte 3-5).
So far I tried SoHo, Chat Cafe and that German restaurant in Dhyana Pura, but somehow they have all similar problems.
Either the speed...
I agree with DCC on this one - never been and never intend to go to Court.
It's just too much bad energy. Not my cup of tea.
Doesn't mean I don't have to change that opinion some day in the future....who knows what can come around....
RE: BBQ Party for Bali Bombers, 10 years jail for a Joint
BaliLife, sounds like an interesting read. Just wrote an article regarding religious tolerance for my blog a few days back. What I always forget is the different kind or lack of common sense or logic behaviour in different cultures...
Hi freogirl and dawnofjedi - I could see it similar to you, if there weren't so many lifes lost, completely useless. And if there would be some justice in the treatment of inmates, maybe it could work, although at the moment, it's hard for me to make some sense out of it - if there is any. Maybe...
On the last floor of Ramayana in DPS (opposite RIMO) there is a Salon charging Rp.9000 for a standard haircut. Fair enough for me every 3-4 weeks; takes only 10 minutes with the machine. ;-)
My fiancee pefers Yoppie's though, you can find several outlets near Bintang, Ramayana or most big...
