Are there any restrictions on converting rupiah to foreign currency?

Okay the issue has been resolved, thanks everyone. I don't know what the problem is at Danamon. I was unable to get any assistance whatsoever from them, which is disappointing because otherwise I have found them to be quite a good banking service while I lived in Bali. Personal, friendly and...

Are there any restrictions on converting rupiah to foreign currency?

Yes, that was the procedure initially recommended to me by the Bank. I have both an IDR and an AUD account at Danamon. I was supposed to transfer the money from my IDR account to my AUD account first, then transfer the AUD to my Australian account. But their internet banking system won't allow...

Are there any restrictions on converting rupiah to foreign currency?

When I moved to Indonesia I transferred money from my Australian account to my Indonesian Danamon account. I have moved back to Australia but still have money left in my Indonesian account (in rupiah). I want to transfer it back to my bank account in Australia. It is too large an amount to do...

Getting an Australian Statutory Declaration witnessed in Bali

Thanks for all the advice everyone. JohnnyCool: Yeah I hear you on the Consulate security. I actually did go in there last week to get it done and that's when I discovered the 200,000 rp fee. The security is just ridiculously over the top. The final joke is right at the end when you go to get...

Getting an Australian Statutory Declaration witnessed in Bali

I need to get an Australian Statutory Declaration witnessed by an Authorized person here in Bali. I know that the following occupations/persons listed below can act as Authorized Witnesses under normal circumstances, but I want to know if they can do it here in Bali, and if so, I want to find...

Notaris's earning some extra money? Advice please

I already did this. I made an appointment with the very large well known law firm, that is often recommended on these forums, to look over the notary's documents before the sale. The quoted charge for this was 1.5m rp. But when I went along to the appointment they didn't even want to look at the...

Notaris's earning some extra money? Advice please

Its probably not wise to mess with the legal profession in this country by putting their names here in public but anyone who wants to know who these notaries are can send me a private message and I will advise you there. I have so far used 3 notaries in Jembrana and have not found one I can...

Notaris's earning some extra money? Advice please

Sadly Gilbert, things didn't improve with the new Notaris. Although it looked promising at first and he appeared very professional and attentive, it became apparent that the Notaries here are brethren in a small and exclusive club and they will not do anything which might take away from one of...

Notaris's earning some extra money? Advice please

Thanks for the information on notarial duties and due diligence Gilbert. My former notary was charging well over 2.5% for my transaction, and it turns out that I was doing all the due diligence myself, based on that list you supplied!!! I hope my new notary will perform somewhat better.

    Land drawings with contours

A problem that was revealed, when I had the land surveyed by Pal Nuryanto, was that the boundaries as shown on the certificate were quite substantially different from those evident by the physical boundaries on the land itself. I am still trying to get to the bottom of this mystery, but at the...

    Land drawings with contours

Thanks for the recommendation Populaire. I contacted Pak Nuryanto and asked him to help me with surveying a property in West Bali. I found him to be very professional, courteous, helpful and intelligent. It helped a lot that he spoke good English, and seemed quite competent in getting through...

    Notaris Q's

I'm advised by notary that 1% fee on AJB would be acceptable on a more expensive property, say around the 1b rp mark (10m rp fee), but not on a cheaper property, where a higher fee would be expected. Notaries seem to want about 5-10m rp for the AJB fee alone, from what I can tell.

Notary Costs - Who Pays What

I took up this issue with my notary, and also asked a law firm about it, and was told that a 1% fee (on the Akta Jual Beli only) would be acceptable if it was a reasonable value property. Eg, 1% on a 1,000,000,000 rp property would be a 10 m rp fee, which would be quite acceptable to the notary...

Notaris's earning some extra money? Advice please

I was using a notary who was recommended to me, and I was aware at the time that she was not PPAT certified, but was advised that this was not a problem, as she would just get another notary to do that part. In retrospect this was a mistake. After reading this thread and learning that one must...

    second hand furniture/appliances shop

Second hand furniture disposal and consignment auction warehouses are becoming very popular all over the world these days. Given fthe large number of expats living in Bali, and the transitory nature of many of them (meaning lots of expats buying household goods then having to get rid of them a...

    Land drawings with contours

My notary recommended this too, ie, get the BPN surveyor to come and re-measure the land before the land purchase. But she said it would be an "unofficial" re-measurement, that we have to pay cash for (nudge nudge wink wink), but that the new plan done by the "unofficial" survey would become the...

Notaris's earning some extra money? Advice please

When I say its a low price, actually I mean its being offered at the market price for locals, meaning that locals are showing interest in the property. Its farm land way out in the sticks with few bule buyers around. Yes we have now seen the original certificate, so it seems not to be under a...

Notary Costs - Who Pays What

Yes I am being quoted 5% of the purchase price for my notary cost too. She did inform me, when I asked, that this figure was negotiable though. Another notary had quoted me about 4%. What is the usual going rate these days, anyone?

I have been quoted 5% for the Akta Jual Beli alone! Is this way too much???
