I just was going to enjoy, once more, Rangi's great early pictures of Bali. They are ALL gone, with only their descriptions left. Mine all have a large stamp on them, marking "PHOTOBUCKET"! It's a total DISASTER! Whoever is moderating this Website, what's happening...

    Moving in May

The way I figure you're going to drive on your new scooter, you'll go so fast, you wont need plates. You'll go so fast, the cops wont have time to notice if you have plates or not...

    Why are Balinese always late?

Of course, in Bali it's jam karet. After you have lived for a while in the country, you'll know that . However, as a European (I mean a white man, as I must include my Australian brothers), you will also learn that the Balinese do not expect us to follow the jam karet clock, and I can assure...

    medication

I don't know how expensive medicines are in Australia, but in the USA, we get the prize for having the most expensive medical racket in the whole wide world. However, regarding statins, even In the US of A, they are relatively cheap. Without any type of insurance, a 3-month supply, (like...

    Home made wine

I used to make my own wine, that is until I drunk a bottle of Chateau Lafitte 1970, and found out what I was missing. Now, that's the only thing I drink...when I can find it!:p:p:p

Activities when your money is low

Well, in Rome do as the Romans do, plus it would be an interesting challenge, as it would show you a bit of "real Bali." Start getting out of Denpasar, and visit some of the other areas, using bimos for transport. But be careful, bimos stop running at night.

    medication

Medicine is an art, not a science. At best it is an empirical science, and therefore subject to fades. Cholesterol is one of the many examples. When I was a young man in my 30's, I started having regular yearly check ups. My total cholesterol was 280 and it was consider "normal," especially...

    Greetings

I don't think the mozzies around Munduk are any larger than those in any other place on the Island, but maybe they have grown a new species since I was there , some time ago. Having been in Bali some many times, you must be quite familiar with the area, since you picked it in the first place...

Just another old white guy - and a damned Yankee too.

Map. I agree with you about the Bali maps poor quality. Except for the "Explorer Bali" maps published by Silvio Santosa. Silvio was a Badui (most likey a Badui Luar ) living in Ubud, and a great friend and drinking buddy of mine from the very beginning of my stay in Bali, in 1985. He was...

    North Bali Airport

I have studied this problem very seriously for almost 34 years and I have come to the inescapable conclusion that the unique solution will require the WHOLE Island to be cemented over.

I second your first choice of the Singaraja area, but you ended up in Jimbaran...Quite a "concession" I must say! :p:p:p

Cool pictures, Chris. Best of luck in finding your place in Bali. My "own" Bali lasted 23 years, and it died in 2007. Haven't been back since. Hope yours will last longer.

    Davita RIP

Condolences to his family. I had never met him, but read his many posts, always interesting and balanced. He surely had a head on his shoulders, and he stuck me as a person I would have liked to know and call my friend.
