Sounds like an April fool's joke:

A Committee of Melbourne lobby group has made a strong push for equality in pedestrian signals - aiming for there to be as many green women as men across the city.

However, many have criticised the endeavour as 'political correctness gone mad'.

On the corner of Swanston and Flinders St in the city there will be 10 female lights rolled out; and their supporters are hopeful they will be there to stay.

“Unconscious bias reinforces stereotypes and influences daily decisions and attitudes … the Equal Crossings initiative will draw our attention to these issues in a practical and positive way,” Committee for Melbourne CEO Martine Letts said.

Political correctness is madness to begin with. It's a like a huge wave of insanity washing over everything.

Perhaps to some degree, but the opposite of political correctness - behaviors like rudeness, insensitivity, disrespect, bullying, etc. are even more repugnant and unacceptable in civilized society.

You see, no civilisation has ever needed something as demented and damaging as "political correctness".
Political correctness is not the cure nor is it the opposite of degenerate behaviour like rudness, insensitivity, disrespect, bullying etc.

This crap was invented in 80-90.
"... The phrase was widely used in the debate about Allan Bloom's 1987 book The Closing of the American Mind, and gained further currency in response to Roger Kimball's Tenured Radicals (1990) and conservative author Dinesh D'Souza's 1991 book Illiberal Education, in which he condemned what he saw as liberal efforts to advance self-victimization and multiculturalism through language, affirmative action, and changes to the content of school and university curricula"

Dinesh D'Souza got it right.

Look around. Political correctness is destroying not only USA, but UK, AU, and most of the EU. It's almost like a contagious mental decease that wipes out victims common sense and ability to understand cause and effect.
