After a particularly bad few months for nasty accidents and foreigners acting up on two wheels in Bali, the province's Governor Wayan Koster has had enough.

After a spate of bules behaving badly on motorbikes, Governor Koster has reportedly asked for the legal ministry's support in revoking visas of tourists caught riding motorbikes in Bali.

Governor Koster said at a press conference that foreigners should stay off the bikes “to ensure quality and dignified tourism.”

The way they've recently been drafting their laws who knows what will come of this shite!?
Probably ends up in the bin.

If police did their job seriously, i.e. catch a guy no permit, no shirt, drunk... just bring him.to the police station, keep him 1 night, make him pay a hefty fine.
Spread the word around, the idiots would quickly stop their B.S.
If some Karen or woke start to insult the cops : deportation.

Agree. This idea will have to be binned. Done in a fit of anger without looking at the consequences.

The police focus on image, what is popular and make financial sense -- and that is to go after the tourists. In my local area (outside the tourist zone) the locals are free to do what they want. Racing at high speed with their modified motorbikes (no mufflers), no lights in the dark, drunk, no helmet, etc. No police to see. Never.

Mostly Russki dudes in their best fighting age. They will be out and about all day and night causing havoc. The Bali gov. should ask themselves why this crowd chose Bali over other destinations? I know the answer but will leave it with that.

If you go to Thailand "this crowd" is everywhere. Huge problem with Russians over there. At least we have the benefit of being on an island so the Russians can't easily import drugs and weapons as they do in Thailand. But yes, they are choosing Bali also now for the same reasons as Thailand - loose and easily manipulated law enforcement.

There is a story of a Russian guy I know through a mutual friend. He was drunk, hit his Russian wife who fell down and hit her head on the pool. Dead instantly. Pembantu saw the whole thing.

You would think this guy is spending life in Hotel K right? Nope. He is on house arrest, required to give a 80% of his monthly income to local police. As long as the payments keep coming and he doesn't leave Bali without a police escort, he is free to roam.

So I think things like that are just one possible reason why this crowd is choosing Bali over other destinations.

He is obnoxious, but basically right. The police focus on tourists with money to spare.
I also noted lack of professionalism from some of the younger police officers.

That may have been the case previously, but the modus operandi seems to be changing. See this recent post from Polda Bali on Instagram.

The traffic police Technics in Indonesia have not changed for decades .
This is the management not the individual police the command orders police to do certain operations example stop motorcycles n cars check for Sim licence, helmet, and licence for bike etc .
The command has been using the same techniques for decades instead of using modern traffic police on patrols with power to pull over offenders etc they pull 20 police standing on road stopping people therefore many offences just never get policed example running red lights big problem here not using blinkers indicators to turn or overtake, riding on wrong side of road ,speeding the list goes on most Indonesians don't even know when the line in the middle of road is yellow you can not pass etc.
There are thousands of accidents injuries and deaths they are not reported on national TV like western countries how many died this year or month example.
Trucks and busses are the worst many are unroadworthy are not safe and many of the drivers are just complete idiots .
If you have no experience riding a motor cycle the last place you want to do it is Indonesia.

Latest reports state "... nearly 60,000 Russians arrived in Bali last year, roughly 20,000 have been arriving each month since the Kremlin declared a partial mobilisation of military reservists in September, according to figures compiled by Bali’s international airport..."

ALJAZEERA - backlash in Bali

Around 60,000 Russians in Bali at the moment? Now some of the the less well off Russians are apparently working for the rich ones (tour guides, hair dressers, drivers, nannies, massage, translators, motorbike rental, comedians, even one reported working as tukang parkir in canggu!). Enterprising lot.

If Russians are perceived to take jobs from the locals (working illegally and not paying taxes) this will put the gov. officials under massive pressure all they way to Jakarta! Just hope what's coming is not causing havoc for the rest.

The rich ones are not in Bali but in Dubai....

The ones in Bali look to me as being just upper middle class. With some exceptions of course.

Yea the Governor has asked the central government to bring in new law if they are caught 3 times not sure if it's 3 they will be deported.
And when they get back to Russia they are screwed cuz Putin has deemed them traitors of the mother land and they will be sent straight to Ukraine .
So if any of you Russian out there are reading this the first thing I'd do if I was any of you is put a helmet and shirt follow the road rules make sure you have licence and bike is legal cuz the Bali government has had enough
