AUSTRALIAN man Shaun Davidson has reportedly escaped from Kerobokan Prison in Bali.
He was one of four foreign inmates to escape from prison.
The men, including a Bulgarian, a Malaysian and an Indian prisoner, are thought to have escaped through a small underground tunnel, less than one metre wide, behind the prison clinic.
The other escapees are: Dimitar Nikolov Iliev, Sayed Mohammed Said and Tee Kok King Bin Tee Kim Sai.
Davidson was imprisoned in Indonesia’s notorious Kerobokan jail last year for
using another man’s passport and suggesting it was a “chubby” photograph of himself.
He aroused the suspicions of authorities when he signed into guesthouse in Kuta under a passport with the name Michael John Bayman. Davidson said he had lost his passport and found Mr Bayman’s at another hotel.
Davidson fled to Bali after being charged on drug offences in Perth. He managed to spend a year “partying and boxing” in Bali before being caught.
He was jailed for one year and fined 100 million rupiah ($A10,000) at Denpasar District Court in August. But he decided to serve an extra five months in jail rather than pay the fine.
Davidson was due to be released in August.
