How did Bali affect me in a positive way TODAY? Well it occurred to me there is something that is really positive about Bali that none of us have mentioned but possibly also not even recognized: Whenever or where ever you live in the west we are in the middle of a community usually and that is made up in mostly equal parts of all age groups. Now we all know a Flo or a George or a Betty - you know those sweet old codgers that you feel guilty about not going over to chat to every week or so. Every time you walk in the door it's "hello love haven't seen you in ages (probably about a week). How's the wife/husband/kids/neighbours/dogs/cats/bishop/father/milkman/postman/policemen/mayor/doctor/dentist/you get the idea...Now these people will actually suck the life right out of you with their bottomless questions and mind-numbing conversation if you let them. And we all do - out of equal parts guilt and "when I'm that age I'll want some one like me to talk to too". I've actually fallen asleep talking to these Flos, Georges and Bettys - something in the past I've had trouble doing in bed after a long, hard day. They don't exist here on Bali - they are way to frightened of anything remotely as adventurous as living on, or even visiting Bali and anyway they only want to live life through other people. It's way easier and less dangerous. I don't even write postcards from Bali and the vampires are largely non-digital so I'm saved having to write emails too. Ahhhh Bali [U]is[/U] Bliss!

@ post #1Markit....you've obviously NOT spent much time in my local pub here in Kerobokan...all conversations start with 'when I did/When we lived in' or "how about them Liverpool...MU....or some Ozzie rugby club. I try to talk about the Canucks....What?There is a reason children's nappies are given names like LUV'm or Huggies......and adult diapers are called 'Depends'.After pooping you can still luv and hug kids...if an old geezer shits the result 'Depends' on the WILL!
