In NSW now the council decision means little . Aldi as they are allowed to do took it further ,then the State planning committee killed it real quick.
It helped the cause that the ex premier lived on the road and the local MPs maiden speech 6 months before was about local neighborhood shopping strips.
It also didn't do any harm that it made the Ch9 news and Daily Telegraph due to residents having some great contacts in the media.
The premier and planning minister were inundated with letters emails etc
