According to the rules that Yani stated, I am supposed to give her my passport a week or so before my Sosbud visa renewal is due, so they can process it, etc.
That's fine except that I'll be in Raja Ampat diving until one day before the visa runs out.
Does anyone KNOW if you can travel DOMESTICALLY (air flights) with a COPY of your passport, rather than the real thing? Someone told me that Immigrasi can stamp a copy of your passport to indicate that they have the real one for processing.
I would be flying DPS to Makassar to Sorong and back.
Thanks,
Bill

Everything I have read, that it is possible, no problem. The first few domestic flights I took here my wife made the bookings and I didn't have to show any kind of ID. Actually a bit scary as security seemed to be pretty lax.

I just show my drivers license when boarding inter island boats. I know this isn't flying but immigrations is immigrations I would have thought.

Our agent always gave us a document which indicates our passports are with immigration....when that was appropriate. We often travelled between DPS and JKT without our passports on those occasions and I cannot recall even showing it as the airlines prefer some photo ID.

Would an international or an Australian issued licence be sufficient photo ID? We keep an international drivers licence for a travel insurance just incase we have a serious accident and need to be air lifted out.

Having traveled with just a drivers license (Indo and Californian 1985) my experience was that immi couldn't care less about us foreigners but were hot as for the locals.
