Booze was easy to get in Bahrain because it was allowed in the hotels. Often sheiks from Dhahran would drive across from Saudi and get pie-faced in the Bahrain hotels and drive back...except some went over the side of the causeway on the way home....:icon_e_surprised:
Most middle-east expat compounds had stills running making some brews.....we used to fly-in the yeast, fruit juice for wine, etc. just to get invited. As you say, so long as the expats didn't alert anyone, it was OK.
