G'day Bill,
In Australia I used to subscribe to MLB.TV. For memory it was about US$80 for the season and that included live streaming and game replays of every home and away game, playoffs and World Series of the majors, a lot of AAA games, College games, and also All-Star games.
No blackouts either because you register from overseas.
The access to their game archives is astounding as is their enormous library of baseball documentaries and tutorials.
Many more features, too many to mention.
Mmmmm.....I think I just talked myself into subscribing again.:icon_eek:

Hello there Bali-people!
My wife and I will be moving to a villa in Ubud for a year starting in July and with the start of the baseball season in the US I was wondering if any of you know if it is possible to get any US sports (specifically the San Francisco Giants) in any manner, way, or form at the villa.
The owners said that the service is via IndoSAT, but they didn't seem to know much else.
I was thinking I might be able to download it or stream it and save it on my PC somehow, and (if this is possible) ChromeCast it to the TV? I am kind of guessing here.
Frankly I am hoping to avoid the damn TV altogether, but the start of the season is getting me going....Typically I only watc morally positive things like NOVA, HBO, and the Giants. :icon_rolleyes:
Thanks,
Bill & Emily

Was this something you watched on the TV itself, or on your PC (which is what we do not want if we can avoid it).
I'm pretty sure it must be on your PC.

I may have the answer to this. A mate is flying in from Thailand today with an adapter box that works via WIFI. He reckons this will pick up any TV channel in the world. As per usual, this may or mat not be the truth.

I have been trying for years trying to watch NFL football, and the only thing I have personally viewed was the Super Bowl. Apparently the expense requires a rather exclusive event large enough to generate an appreciative crowd in itself large enough to make a profit in some sports bar. Another factor is broadcast time being in the wee hours of the morning here.
The technical aspects are in a world beyond my reach, so will leave that to others.
Good luck.

I suspect he is talking about an android box. This is basically a box you connect to your modem then to TV with Ethernet or WiFi.
You need a good internet speed and dont know if Bali speed will be enough, you will get buffering.
It Streams from the net to box so the box really just sorts out the sites to stream from you can also use google chromecast.
This just sorts everything out gives you different lots of links for streaming sport, live tv movies etc etc and makes it easy.
However its not that easy to use and if you stuff about with the settings it can become very difficult.
I have one and love it for the very latest movies ,Tv . However i stuffed the last one up after reseting it so couldn't be bothered spending hours trying to fix just ordered a new one.

We had someone remark on the weekend our internet was better than what they had in Australia and he even works at Telstra.

If that's the case then the box is s good option for watching live American sport free never any charge.
Warning - mentioning work and Telstra in the same sentence causes hysteria and panic among Telstra employees

Yes cobber, I suspect it is the same unit. However because they are mates I will be paying more than the $115 mentioned on E Bay. Isn't that what friends are for.
I also doubt the internet speed here will be enough to support it. Thanks for the info.

What kind of internet do you have there? I would suggest hooking up with Indihome. They also have a range of sports channels available included in the TV/internet package.

Baseball is played on Fox sports one. Its on the standard Telcomvision package.

Yes they are all similar. The difference would be the speed, version of android, latest kodi etc.
the biggest difference is you want all the apps and programs pre loaded as it's difficult to do and you want them all on auto updates. I stuffed around with my last one and changed skins settings etc just too hard to set back original. Just bought a new one

Baseball on BIG TV as well.

This discussion of Android TV has got my interest, so I have been reading up. Could be the way to go.

They are good Ron hope your internet is good enough.
Its also takes a bit of getting used to(for me anyway) but you are tech savvy
I have just been playing with another app on the box called MOBDRO i usually use the Kodi app (ex xbmc) to get me everything.
It has all the UK ,USA etc etc cable channels
I will put up a cpl of screenshots what you can get it. Wasn't having a problem with buffering.
This is only a sample there are hundreds

Well to answer on Internet speeds, if no VPN is needed then we get 8 or 9 megabit download speeds which is plenty fast enough. We are currently paying for the 10 megabit Indihome service, and could increase it to 20 megabit if there seemed to be a need.
To get access to Aussie and US content I tried a VPN called NordVPN and it greatly reduces download speed to maybe only 1 or 2 megabit and streaming TV becomes a problem. So basically it is a waste of time and money and I am reluctant to try other VPNs without first hearing from other users that the download speeds are OK.
Do you need to use VPNs to get your content and are you paying for some of the channels that you show?

Have you tried a DNS ? Just google difference VPN Vs DNS

Yes I have used various DNS servers. But they are not the answer. If I am in Indonesia and try to access the Australian ABC Iview, it says something like "this service is only available for people in Australia". Use a VPN that make you look like you are in Australia and you can use Iview, but if the VPN is throttling your speed too much the result is no good. But with some providers like Netflix, if you use a VPN to access content available in the US, they are likely to say something like "it looks like you are using a VPN so piss-off" - just paraphrasing. So VPNs, even if fast enough are not a foolproof way of getting around these location limitations.
Anyhow, you have stirred my interest and I will keep exploring.
