Nydave wroteLast November I bought my round trip ticket from Ny to Surabaya on Singapore airlines for $1,032,,and it also included the departure tax, previously I was paying between $1,500-$1,600,so prices are definitely lower, but I think it depends a lot on what airlines we use, fuel prices are down but many airlines are not passing on the savings to the passengers,
A lot of airlines forward bought aviation fuel and are now suffering from that exposure as they bought anticipating oil at US$80 a barrel and the spot price is now around US$30.
Cathay Pacific, for example, gave that explanation to their shareholders on why their profit was so low recently.
The Indonesian Government has also suffered from the drastic price drop of oil...they budgeted for income at around US$90 and look what they now get....go OPEC!
