Will only point out that most airline crashes now are human failure and that once the car self drive thing is developed it will have similar capabilities and you/we will gradually not be given the option to self drive any more as we will be a danger to society - some of you are probably used to that already.

Australia moves north by as much as 7cm per year,so recently they have made changes to its exact location for gps purposes, Seems the earths plates are to blame for the movement,the last changes made were back in the early 80`s meaning it has moved as much as 1.5 mtrs since then, Seems the recent changes are necessary for current/future development of such things as self driving cars which completely rely on exact gps positioning, the fact that Tesla the big electric car company here in the States have had i believe 2 serious crashes in recent months with their version of self drive cars, being off by 1.5 mtrs could spell disaster, It also appears that they haven't quite figured out how these cars find their way when there is a heavy fog,, Me well I`ll just stick with the old fashioned way of driving,like using my own eyes and making my own decisions,

They have something similar to those cables in Korea,they use them to guide buses along,and of course they have similar in big warehouses such as Amazon distribution centers,where the robots are guided by imaginary lines on the ground,in some cases there are actual lines on the floor,but if you read about how self drive cars navigate it doesn`t seem like any of these systems are in play,

Aircraft Auto-Land capability is designed for landing in fog where the pilot cannot see the runway...been there done that. Of course the airport has to be technically equipped for this procedure and none in Indonesia are so equipped...but not much fog here either....except in Sumatra where they call it haze...:icon_e_surprised: Edit: years ago I did some aircraft trials where they used an induction cable dug into the ground for about 8 miles, extending to the end of a runway. This had a magnetic force that an aircraft could pick-up and auto-guide to land. Didn't work well and was scrapped. However, I've not since heard of that technology being used on toll road systems....I can imagine two cables down a twin highway and cars automatically being driven using the cables information for guidance. A driver could press a button to disengage and leave the highway at exits or to change lanes manually. Good for long-distance drivers and trucks etc.

I'm aware that those self-drive cars are GPS located but the cable idea appeals to me as more reliable on an interstate. They would also have to use constant speed, like my old Cadillac, which really saved on gas. I used to envision driving in the city and, if wanting to go long distance, drive onto a train and getting off at the other end...much like the Channel tunnel train service. Many snow-birds in Canada and the States have their vehicles delivered by car-transporters when they go to their 2nd homes.
