Hey You guys!Im soon gonne be living in Bali for a while... Im thinking to start off with Renting a room in Canggu maybe and then bringing a surfboard to the beach everyday. My friends tell me I will need some kind of transportation device to get around. Now I do understand that for motorbikes you need a drivers licence (I dont have one).So my question is, what are my options?A: Can I rent a moped maybe some kind of scooter that Don't needs a license for driving?B: Can I rent a bicycle that carries a surfboard and will this be sufficient and a good option to get around the island (or at least to the beach)?Thank you in advance for your Replies! /Ikky

Smoke
never seen a moped here. all scooters need a license which you can just buy ( not need a license to start )

Hey Smoke thanx for the info. is it legal to just buy one, where do u buy it and how much would it cost?
Smoke
yes 100% legal to buy a 30 day scooter license only in island of Bali.It is valid for all of Indonesia. The Polise station in Denpasar issues them as tourist licenses. not know the costs off hand but umm paying for expidiated service is around 300,000 - 350,000 rupiah .when you are here i can pass you my friends phone # and he will expiadiate it for you .takes abuot 30-60 minutes depending on day

Smoke, cool and thanx again! I might take u up on that once I'm there and ready. If anyone has any experience about renting a bicycle that carries a surfboard, I'd love to hear it. My question is, are they available? is it practical, or are the distances etc too much for that?

What happened to all the mopeds then? There were about ten gazillion on Bali when we lived there... and only a few hundred scooters... unless we are at crossed purposes here. I class Vespas and Lambrettas as 'Scooters' and everything else on two wheels with engine size between 50 - 100cc 'mopeds'... ...never saw any motorised wheelchairs though so I'm getting the Teutles of 'Orange Couny Choppers' fame to come up with some ideas...

In Sanur there's an Italian who has a small restaurant and sells pizza. I think it's new at least new to me. Same street as manshed just a little further in (left side).
