I was told durian season was November to January, but they seem to be hard to find around Ubud. Anyone living in an area where durian are still plentiful? :topsy_turvy:

I don't know about Ubud, but you often see sellers along the road from Bedugul to Singaraja. We bought some yesterday and according to my wife it still wasn't ripe yet. So maybe you need to wait a little longer. Fortunately for me it didn't smell too bad, so I guess the smellier it is, the better it is for eating.

On the main road in Renon (along the parkside near the monument) are since a few weeks (and every year again this time) always pickup trucks full with durian. That's maybe not really in your area.

Thanks for the information guys. Spicyayam, tell your wife it is best to open them there where you buy them, and if they are not sweet, make the seller open new ones till he finds you sweet ones. Thanks Dick, if I get down to Renon after Christmas I will certainly look there.

My wife wasn't with me, but my friend was trying them. The seller was opening them as you say, which made me wonder who would want to buy fruit with lots of little holes in it.
