unfortunately your stepmum is being ripped off ! foreigners cannot buy property in bali , it is illegal . lovina for the type of property is dirt cheap , ie half or less the price mentioned . warn her off , its a scam

Here's the only thing I could think of. Have your husband, or as many family members as you can muster, threaten to cut her off if she goes ahead without meeting with the expats that have kindly offered to meet with her. Also, possibly print out this thread and your previous thread and force her to read them. Other than that, if she won't listen to reason, then there's really nothing you can do. Good luck.

Hello guys thanks so much! i have tried a few times to get in contact with the guy with the lawyer wife :) :) I will try again if you guys live in Lovina any help would be awesome, surely she wont mind you looking over hte paperwork at the very least? Checking prices as she hasnt looked into this at all. I'm worried she will just sign away without thinking.

Argh let me think about this, she has fallen otu with most of her family over this and I dont want her to think I'm pushing her away too, I have to come up with something.....Maybe i'll have a chat to her and ask her to talk to you then I'll report her name lol

Hey guys just wondering if you can help? My mother in law met a Balinese man about 8 months ago and moved in with him pretty much straight away. Which was fine, she paid the rent for a year in advance and obviously has to come back here when her visa runs out etc for a week or two. This time she has come back and just told us she is buying the house they are renting (with no pressure from her balinese guy of course) however the guy doing all the paperwork is his friend and is charing her $75,000 Aus Dollar to buy this one bedroom place with no air conditioning or pool or anything at all and it's near Singaraja or something like that just out of Lovina. Is this price sounding about right? She is leaving it all to her bali boyfriend as she really thinks they are in love. I'm worried once she buys this place she will lose him and her money. Anyway she is going to do it we have tried to talk to her etc she is adamant that she's doing it which is fine because it's what she wants to do but surely she should look around and get other prices, or even a lawyer to look over the paperwork???? I'm not even sure what to do all we can do is watch her pay this money we feel so powerless, she has already fallen out with some family over moving to Bali and being so one eyed with this guy, she wont hear a bad word about him.....I'm so worried that if he isnt who she thinks he is it will shatter her, shes 74 years old (he is 48) and doesn't need anymore dramas as she's had a hard life. We are happy if she is happy, but she could be happy just RENTING haha I'm just voicing out loud in front of people who might know a thing or two about Bali. She is very very gullible and sweet and has been ripped off many times in Australia. She is so trusting... What can her family do if anything???? We've been to meet him, so has other people in her family but he speaks hardly any English so communication isnt the best....he seems nice sure but why wouldnt he getting all this money off her? ARGHHH HELP before apparently the paperwork is ready to be signed once she goes back in like 2 weeks....Help

You could have her committed in Oz? Clearly she's not banging on all cylinders so that might be an option. You came here several months ago with this same problem and the consensus then was to let mum get on with it as it's her dosh but now you say she's been cheated often as she's such a gullible child. At least she's consistent. Clearly we all agree your mum MAY lose everything, man included but if you aren't worried about the inheritance then there's only the one other option to let her get it on. Light blue touch paper and stand well back. OF Hire a private investigator? Ask the guy if he'd take $10k to disappear (never to be forgiven if she finds out) Ask mum if you can move in with her and hubby with hubby in earshot. Get him to take up bungi jumping/parachuting/free-diving/etc Best of ALL!! Get mum to have a high-tea with about 10 western women I personally know that have had disastrous marriages with Balinese.

Yes she does lol and so does he now! OH in fact his friends wrote a lot of comments on one photo that to me looked very derogatory but of course it's in Balinese and I Have no idea what they are saying but the pictures are of a breastfeeding Mother, and somebody showing their entire genitals??
