Had a lovely 70cm spitting cobra in the garden yesterday afternoon and since hearing about Peter at Reptile Rescue I thought I'd give him a call and see what could be done instead of killing the poor weee beasty. Well called Peter and he immediately agreed to come all the way from Kerbokan to me in Karangasem (2 hours, in the fecking rain - poor wee bastid!) to remove said reptile. Peter came promptly as promised but unfortunately weee beasty had moved on so all for nothing. Peter seemed quite easy about it and just popped another cancer stick and off he went again - into the rain for the ride back. He agreed that I could shout his accolades and put about his contact details so CALL HIM IF YOU GET A SNAKE!!DON'T KILL THEM, they have more right to this island than we do. Try driving an open sided jeep over a King Cobra and then see how you feel about 'live and let live'...I ran off the road into a ditch ...but for some reason I was convinced the bastard was coiled up under the vehicle waiting for me to step out....well it was coiled up..sort of...around the drive shaft

I have a very excited 10 year old [I]dying[I] to meet Peter. She adores reptiles. :)

Peter got bitten by a cobra about 10 days back, he is lucky to still be alive. It was a "wet" bite, the venom entered his system.

We have a massive king cobra living under our house, been there for years....thick as your arm.Good to leave the wildlife wild...and more importantly, aliveCaught this one in our bedroom the other night.....and the next one in our shoes and the next one in our garden....bush and the last one ate my favourite pussy.

I found this interesting. Snake caught rat, snake killed by road traffic, rat escapes but still dead.

I'm sure Disney could make a monumental film out of that little drama.

Nobody un-horribles like Disney, they can make any reptile, rodent or socially inept outcast look 'cute' ... although I do believe beautifying the usual suspects inhabiting this forum would be the supreme challenge...
