Markit wroteSince Bowie was one of the most popular pop Icons/figureheads and musicians of the last 60 years I seriously think people all over the would look at it and say "Wow! If Bowie thought Bali was where he wanted his ashes then it must be fecking good there!".
It is good there, and its a positive for Bali but in a couple of months at best who is going to remember Bowie asking for his ashes to be scattered in Bali. NO ONE except Die hard Bowie freaks and Bali expats. It may give Bali an extra 100 tourists(Bowie freaks) at best so in MY opinion no difference to tourism.
Can you remember any famous person asking to have their ashes scattered and where. I can't but there have been many.
More importantly and tourists will remember is safety, VOA, accommodation choice ,restaurant standards ,affordability and beaches (Bali should fix this).
P.S I have just asked a 19y/o and a 16y/o have they heard of David Bowie 1st reply was who? 2nd reply was I seen something about him on Facebook

In your area its a different type of tourist and I loved the feel but didn't see any bogans in Seminyak but maybe I just blend in
