There are many ways to assess safety, comfort, profitibility, investment etc......up to each to make the determination for whatever purpose.
One thing clear is that Qantas has had an outstanding safety record over the years and the standards applied are as good as many other equally safe airlines.
However, it should be noted that Qantas, in fiscal 2014, lost AUD 2.8 billion and have since had to let-go some 15% of its work force, including pilots and engineers. In 2015 it regained some profitability.
Whether this will cause some disruption to its safety record in coming years will remain to be seen.
