Now I understand your sponsor is an agency. Did you get your agent to do the extension in Lombok? My experience and advice to newlife35 has to do with getting a Sosbud and extensions as Do It Yourself; as she posted a friend was going to be her sponsor.Using an Agency is different.....this was the case when I received my Retirement Visa. We lived in Jakarta at the time and my agent is here in Bali. When we came back from S'pore with our Itas the Officer, at Jakarta airport, first verified that our Agent had a registered office in Jakarta, prior to stamping our passport.

no it a 23 year old man I have known from an internet business I owned before selling pre move to Bali dont confuse Jakrta ways with Bali ways in Bali and only Bali even a VOA holder can get a 30 day scooter license !

Smoke
correct . even though I can process my own extensions as renon or even the airport area are close to me why waste 3 half days going and processing it !.my agent holds my passport unless i need it to travel, or to open up another indo bank account . used it other day to put sattalite tv in my name . extensions I am told are easy to do yourself just takes time 10 days before experation date a few days b4 and i think day it expires. My agent handles all of that like clockwork while i am out socializing . in my opinion well worth having a great agent that handles all of that !I not have to worry about when to go, waiting on any LONG lines etc

No question Smoke...Indonesian bureacracy sux. But it's all a case of 'how much'. As in another thread and posts from Samsiam on this subject of visa fees, because he is a family of four and it appeared he would pay X 4.....it became expensive.BTW does your agent have an office in Lombok to get the extension done there, or you did it yourself?
Smoke
Definetly for 4 people all extending on same days ,i would mostlikely make time to do them myself.but shhh i get a great rate and to me as my local friends say "it cheap".. i have only done new sosbuds in sg and penang. Going next month to get another. My agent takes care of all my extensions for me weather i in lombok, gili t, kintomani , surabiya or in lovely sanur

'Coz I never heard of Imigrasi offices in Gili T.Also where is the KTP address of your sponsor, is he in Bali?
Smoke
My sponsor lives in south bali. My agent does all my sosbud extensions for me . I just pay him and he tells me when i must leave indonesia and make another sosbud run.Is that clear ?
gilbert de jong
in theory Davita is right...one can only extend a sosbud at the kantor imigrasi wich is closest to the adress on sponsors ktpin practice...some people can extend their sosbud at wherever they are at the moment of needing to extend..many sosbud-expats (on Bali) leave their passport at an visa agency, who then takes care of all the extensions at the kantor imigrasi closest to the adress on sponsors ktp, regardless of where the actual passportholder may be.

Your sponsor is in Bali, your agent is in Bali and your extensions are done in Bali. I initially understood you said you had an extension issued in Lombok...correct me if I'm wrong.....but it NOW seems you are saying your agent had the extension issued in Bali...when you were 'socializing' in Lombok. That is different.... and comes back to my original contention that the extensions need to be issued in the location of the sponsor's KTP. So I don't see now how you have proved that to be wrong
Smoke
yes while i was in lombok I even had one done while i was in Lovina for a few days . no idea davita what you trying to do I commented on my experience in bali with sosbuds and you went off like a detective !

You then posted and it inferred that you had an extension done in Lombok and could be done anywhere, which agreed with Markit's statement. I can see now it is just the way you said it that was confusing. I then retracted my advice as it appeared someone HAD managed to extend a Sosbud somewhere other than the sponsor's KTP location. It now seems that is not what occurred.....so I'm back to my original advice.
Smoke
My agent extends it . I dont even know where the immigration offices are. I do know where to pay tax on cars, scooters and harleys ( just bring a friends ktp copy with you )

Hey Smoke... sorry a bit off topic, but...Is it safe to assume that bule can fly domestically without carrying their passport? Given that you've been away 'socialising' whilst your passport was in Bali.

Quote by Markit "I've never been charged a penny by any agent for the sponsor letter or any other paperwork for the Sosbud - they hope to make their cash on the renewals/extensions - " unqouteI wish markit had offered his agent's fee to get a Sosbud info to Samsiam on the recent thread titled ":Moving to Bali". There Samsiam was advised by members that an agent can charge between Rp200,000- Rp1,000,000? for the sponsor letter and between Rp500,000-Rp650,000 for each extensions. I recall asking my own agent and posted on that thread he charged Rp500,000 for the sponsor letter and Rp650,000 for each extension. As Samsiam's family is 4 people these costs could easily mount......so helping him to reduce those fees would have been useful info at that time.

Please find attached a sponsor letter. Print it, fill it out with your data. Get your Made (Wayan, Ketut, whatever) to sign it. Take it and your Made's copied KTP (ID) to your/our friendly Singapore AgentMeet him in SGGive him the above and your passportGo buy a shitload of useless SG junkMeet him again - get passportVery Important!!!! Make sure your visa is correct - due date, length of stay, etc. Give him your moneyGo to Bali, do not pass Go, do not collect $E200You now have 2 months to recover before the first renewal is dueGo to an agent of your choice and give them the passport with the all important 211 visa in it - give them money (between 1.8 and 2 juta depending upon the situation and your haggling ability) and passport pictures (this changes so ask about 2 weeks before the renewal is due). Go enjoy Bali for another 2 months - the second renewal is slightly more complicated as they need fingerprints and a computer picture - don't ask "why?" just embrace chaos.Go and enjoy Bali for another 2 months. Now do it all again.
