Outbreak of violence at Kerobokan jail

Three people are said to be dead after riots broke out in Bali's Kerobokan prison, where Australians are among the inmates. Two groups of inmates clashed around 3pm on Thursday, prison authorities say, claiming the lives of three inmates, according to Daily Telegraph. Earlier reports from AAP had only confirmed two deaths. A water canon, ambulance and bomb squad vehicle were on site and prison guards had been evacuated from the jail, a 30-minute drive north of Kuta. I read that one of the groups was Laskar Bali. Who are these guys? I've seen posters of threatening looking men all over wishing me a happy holiday (or else?). I thought they were some political party?.

This continued outside the prison, around Jl Pulau Batanta, Jl Badak Agung, LP, Satria, Mahendrata, Teuku Umar I saw pictures of 4 dead persons, and as far as I know only one died INSIDE the prison

Laskar and Baladika have separate areas inside the LP, but (so I heard) there were new inmates coming in 2,3 days ago, and visitors / supporters from outside leading to violence...just send sb to buy electricity and he told me shops opening today at 10 because of a warning from the police / banjars

Amazing how hysterical people get on Facebook. A picture taken of the "weapons" showed a bucket with some pieces of wood in it. I realize there were some casualties but you are talking about gangs and prisoners fighting.

Spicy this is no fun, Baladika lost 3 or 4 of their "soldiers", if they let these actions unanswered they can close all of their businesses; Baladika just send the message that "they will answer", so at least me for my part will avoid some areas in the south of Bali in the next weeks (Baladika has 25.000 "members" and Laskar much more, this is no walk in the park to me)

My inside connections to Bali police (family) advise me to stay home tonight as they are gearing-up for big trouble. They are even drawing up a 'state of emergency declaration'...just in case. I'm stocked up at home of grub and booze so no problem......as wifey is in Jakarta.

Latest news has that the leaders have 'kissed and made-up' and averted a possible huge problem for Xmas tourism to Bali. Bali's gangs apologise for deadly violence and 'guarantee' safe Christmas I might be able to go to the pub tonight after all.....seeing as wifey is 'outtatown'. In my dad's workaholic days Friday night was traditional pub night...after slaving all week and handing over his pay my mum would give him 'pocket money' to go to the pub. I'd go with him but stay outside with all the other kids...the dads would give us lemonade with a dash of bitter...we'd pretend to get drunk...:drunk:

Parents in Bali have it even better. Last night a guy (I don't know him) was in the pub with a baby in a pram.....fast asleep. When he/she woke the guy would give a bottle...maybe stuffed with brandy for all I know...but it worked. The child drank then went back to sleep. We all had to stay inside the pub because of the storm....I couldn't get home till midnight.:icon_rolleyes: In Scotland, when I was a kid....we had to drink outside. I believe it was because of the smoke inside...clearly Scottish lawmakers were concerned about childrens health, even in those days...:icon_e_biggrin:

Oh Contrare my dear Watson (alias geedee)....look at the timeline. My source warned me yesterday morning of the possible risk and I posted around noon...meanwhile, those rival gang leaders were 'invited' to meet. Look at the pic....Bali's gangs apologise for deadly violence and 'guarantee' safe Christmas This happened yesterday afternoon. Look at the people in the background of the pic who intervened to get those gang leaders to 'kiss and make-up'. Intervention was successful and around 6:00pm I was so advised..... and posted my information.....then went to the pub!:icon_e_biggrin:
