TV advice please?

I wanna buy a big-ass TV, 55/60 incher and a sound system to go with it and could use some advise from the members here: Buy/not buy in Bali? Where in Bali? If not buying in Bali, where and how to get it back here? Guarantee issues with foreign buying? Since I'm spending some dosh on the damned thing, should I get some electrical isolation for it? Good buys out there? Thanks in advance. Markit

1. Where do the hotels and the guys who rent out holiday villas buy them? 2. As regards the sound system if you don't want the hassle of all the extra speakers the latest soundbars are the way to go. The good ones give a great result

Wow! those prices...and here's me thinking I might spring to US$50 for a better speaker system....now checking the price of hearing aids!!! Although I was schooled in Scotland I prefer to use the metric system for sizing things...sounds bigger. BTW I'm not in contention with Markit....everything he has is bigger than mine...including his conceit...:abnormal: Anyway walking to the pub for Saturday pint and a pie...see I already contradict myself...a pint is smaller than a litre...but a litre and a pie just doesn't sound right.

I can check prices here if you want, may give something to compare in bali. My sound bar is a fidelity from hartono only cost Rp 1,200,000 and sounds great. I know large tv are a lot more expensive then Australia ,Panasonic 55 smart tv with 3 year replacement warranty $995.00

$50 for a speaker system!!! Where have you been Davita it would surely cost you that for a decent bottle of wine. You should be able to buy cheaper in Jakarta as Australia is expensive for everything. You don't need to spend big , but as my wife says "money never lies". Mind you that's when's she's spending big on shoes or handbags and trying to justify it when I'm looking stunned like an English rugby player who has just been knocked out of the World Cup group stage

Just had a couple of Kilkenny's for Rp25,000 each. Two pubs within walking distance from me are selling...while stocks last. Imported from Ireland, as is the Guiness, but that's Rp97,000 for a real pint....which reminds me.... Paddy was selling his pet python on ebay. Some guy called and asked "Is it big?' I'm also interested in this soundbar as I know nuttin' about them except I went to my friend's house (a Kiwi) to watch a rerun of how the All-Blacks beat the crap out of the Wallabies. He has a 60 incher, well he is a tall guy, coupled to this soundbar/box he brought from Hong Kong.... and I was impressed. He's gone back to Hong Kong now but I'd appreciate your knowledge as my TVs; 32' and 36' have lousy sound systems and I don't like those all-around dvd player gadgets...or maybe I just need hearing aids. I know my wife needs them coz' she never hears anything I say...but she's totally alert when her iphone bleeps.

As for your 24' I don't think it's worth it unless you buy a cheap one Make sure you check what inputs your tvs has (you don't want a soundbar that only uses optical IF your tv has no optical input) most soundbars have a few outputs. I recently purchased a $499 Yamaha soundbar(it was made in Indonesia) I am very happy with it (before you buy google the reviews from your phone) I'm sure you don't really need to spend $1800 as unless you are really into audio I don't think there is a huge difference. Try and get one with a good wireless subwoofer Why don't you buy when you are in Jakarta I,m sure your wife would love to go shopping with you. The box for mine was huge but you could repackaged it and take it as luggage on the plane. While your at it why don't you buy a larger TV you don't want Markit to beat you in inches in any department

Ok looked at tvs today and was mildly shocked - 65' LG 65LF63OT beauty for [B]26juta[/B]. Fanfeckingtastic TV great color/movement/black with viewing angles around the bloody back. All the bells and whistles - "smart", web browser etc. Also saw a great "little" 55' Samsung UA55J5500 for [B]17Juta[/B] - you can buy a lot of beer and pussy for 10juta but then I wouldn't have time to watch tv now would I? In short - fell in love but now looking for similar for half that money. Checked out UK/US/Oz/Indo online and the bastards change the signifying lettering/code for each country to make it really hard to compare.

I definitely wouldn't buy overseas I'm sure I remember seeing something about voiding the warranty. Are you really going to need all the bells and whistles. That's what I normally buy the things with 'you beauty' features. Then never use them. A lots of outputs and inputs are good for Netflix etc. in fact if your internet is good better buying a steaming box and you can watch lastest movies tv series documentaries etc etc. Free

Hi Fred2...I see Hartono sell a Fidelity FDT201 soundbar/woofer for Rp1,350,000 (same as yours?) I'd like it but wonder how it connects. My LG 32 TV has 2 red and 2 white pins for audio out...thats it. Do you think a Fidelity soundbar can connect to that TV?

Thank you sir...good news. There is no Hartono here in Bali but I'm spending Xmas/New Year in Jakarta and live not far from Hartono there. I'll take a look unless someone can tell me where to buy that model, or similar, in Bali.

I bought a year ago and got the LG 55UB850T, it was 28 Juta at the time, but now seems to be superceded by 55UF850T now at 23 juta. At the time they threw in a smaller TV worth about 5 juta and a 500 GB USB drive as sweeteners. I also go a 5.1 home theatre system BH7530TW which was about 7 juta but now seems to be replaced by BH6340H which is maybe 3.5 juta. They have wireless connection between the speakers at the front and the speakers at the back I got mine at UFO in Denpasar before that store burnt down. There is also a UFO in Gianyar. See UFO Elektronika. I download the movies always searching for hi-def with 6 channel audio and then it's great - although we have a neighbour who complains occasionally. I also get 3D movies as often as possible - the movies from Marvel and Pixar are good and one of the best ever in 3D is Avatar. So while they are expensive, I figure it has been really worth it.
