I caution against accepting certain agents' advice. I interviewed four agents prior to selecting the current one for my Retirement Kitas and, co-incidentally, am in process to get my third Kitas. Some agents just talked nonsense and I found later some were not even legit...check to see the licence No. issued by the Indonesian Government to confirm legitemacy. Some agents act as sub-agents and get commission from the ones that do the real work and are licensed. Others just tell you what you want to hear then, when they fail, good luck with getting compensated! Some have Immigrasi workers in their pocket, who work their magic, and I'm sure many foreigners are satisfied with that......much like the Sim A & C Automobile Licensing Dept.

I've been here for over 6 and a half years and STILL have to go for fingerprints and photo every 6 months. Twice now I've asked why I needed to present myself again, as they already have them on file. Both times I was greeted with a condescending smile and no verbal response.

The imigrasi guys get the chance to hold your hand every 6 moths without having to worry about being hit over the head by your handbag! But, Indonesia is moving towards equal opportunity. As soon as they have a few gay guys in imigrasi, then the expat guys will all be pulled in for fingerprinting and photographs. :topsy_turvy::topsy_turvy:

Well I have decided to go with the Business Visa and just go to Singapore for the afternoon to restock on western supplies every now and then. So I am told it is 1.3jt to extend it, but I checked and it is 1.5jt to go to Sing if you plan ahead. Sometimes less even. Air asia has this great new fare map feature. For 200k more I can avoid the hassle of it which takes a week of back and forth, waiting, and all that other fun stuff. Which can be replaced by 200k and an afternoon. This also eliminates the worry about are dodgy things happening with the extensions. Also with business visa I can at least talk about my business if anyone asks. I have even found a few Indonesians online doing the same thing as me and I can meet with them just to meet as colleauges discussing business without worrying about being in breach of my conditions. Seems like a the best solution to me.
