Hello!
I am planning to stay for three month on Bali to finish my Phd thesis So I need a small quiet apartment with good wifi.
I have looked at Denpasar, Ubud and Selemadig, but I am also open to other options. Just not a party area but not too far from shopping facilities. I would pay around 400 USD/month.
So far I found this, which looks ok:

They require a paypal deposit though to make a reservation, which I seems a bit fishy to me.
Do you guys have any suggestions?

G'Day suet_yyp, that place looks fine and I'm sure there's a lot of other places similar to that. Sanur is a good mix of (relative) quietness and amenities, I'd recommend somewhere close to there. That place is not too far from Sanur, but is definitely not walking distance. Not in this heat.
In my opinion, you shouldn't book and pay ahead for the whole 3 months. There's a lot that can wrong with long term rentals here. At maximum I'd take it one month at a time. I wouldn't count on the wi-fi being reliable either. Often the wi-fi can't penetrate the brick walls of your apartment and therefore is only available in the common area. I doubt that's what's you had in mind, best to check with them first.
Not to put a dampener on your plans but I've never really considered Bali (or Indonesia, for that matter) as a quiet place or as a place that is conducive to getting things done. I mean the heat and humidity will sap your energy for at least the first month you're here. Are you sure there's no snowed-in mountain cabins available near you?

Its probably better to book in a small hotel first then have a look around and check out what is available and what meets your needs before paying anything.
