The refillable ones used to be printers designed for cartridges that were then modified with tanks. I used one for the past 4 years and it finally gave up. It worked well but was idiosyncratic because of Epson firmware that would from time to time tell you you needed new cartridges - you had to go thru a bit of a song and dance to get it going again.
Now Epson makes refillable models and markets them in SE Asian countries. I have now got an Epson L355,
see it here. It connects to your wifi network and then not only can your PC print, but smartphones and tablets can download apps then print.
The bad news is that the price is around 2.7 juta (Bhinneka). The second floor guys at the back that Markit refers to asked 2.9, but another guy in the centre aisle not far away did 2.6.
Very happy with it, the ink tanks are neat. To set it up, easiest to connect by USB first, then configure wifi settings on the printer, then switch to wifi communication and remove the USB cable. Also when setting up it took a while to get the ink flowing through those long plastic tubes ( repeatedly did the nozzle cleaning routine - don't know if there is a better way) - but now it runs like a charm. With glossy paper and the hi-quality settings - photos are great.
