Haven't noticed anything here about Prodia, which is a clean independent lab that can do all the testing required, and at reasonable rates. They are located in Denpasar and various other places in Indonesia. Why pay a hospital when you can go direct to the lab? A doctor will evaluate the results of the tests with no extra charge. Recently paid 200,000.for a full chest x-ray. You can get addresses on google.

GOOD INFO mugwump...my wife used them in Jakarta some time ago and I'd forgotten the name so thanks for the reminder. I'll be going there for my next annual check-up in February...if I can make it till then...:icon_rolleyes:

Went yesterday and had a 5 minute talk with a cardioligist and came out with 4 sets tablets, damage 944,000 thats with a kitas. Dr was 330,000, tablets 614,000 and found out last night could have got same at apotic for 230,000 feck, have to go back today to get blood tests and he has 12 items on the form he want the blood tested for and cost is 1,900,000, then back t/row for echocardiogram cost 1,200,000 + dr consultation 330,000. so cost so far is 5 juta and i dont even know if i am fecking ill yet as the cardiologist does not say a lot.

Bakung...I suggest you go to Prodia for all those tests....as mugwump suggests in post #22. Take the prescription from Siloam with you then take the test results back for the Siloam Dr's analysis. Unfortunately, I didn't follow my own advice yesterday. We were on the way to Prodia with the Siloam prescriptions to have some blood tests but the traffic was bad and, to compound it all, they were having a ceremony so a diversion was needed. As we were much closer to Siloam I changed my mind and went there. The blood tests took an hour of waiting, as they now have a number system, and the price came to Rp1.430,000...I kicked myself as I'm sure Prodia would be half of that.

Forum members seem to be dropping like flies. Yesterday I went to a Dermatologist at BROS (Bali Royal Hospital) for a one hour consultation with a dermatologist I paid (with Kitas): Screening Skin Care (an over all look at my "Lilly-White") 189k Consultation with Dermatologist 182k 2 tubes of Cortisone ointment 106k They were on time, friendly, good English (the doc) and seemed at 4:30 not to be too busy but it did pick up after my appt was over at 5;30. You have to be careful here comparing medicines and prices - in many cases you could get the medicine cheap from the Apotek - [B][I]if they had it, most don't[/I][/B]. I got an extra strength version that I've already self diagnosed but was unable to find anywhere here. It's the same with many medicines. Without the Kitas the consultation would have cost double - I did ask.

The place highly recommended for cheaper prescription and OTC drugs is.... Apotik Adhi Guna Farma 2 Jl. Mayjen. Sutoyo No 45 tel: (0361)238241 This was advised by a Dr. who consults in Siloam and Prima hospitals...he told my wife it is much cheaper there. She bought some prescriptions today but we have no way to compare savings. Edit: I was prescribed something called Sancortmycin which is a 10mg hydrocortisone/30mg oxytetracycline ointment ..cost Rp11,500 for one 10 mg tube at the above apotik. BTW I noticed they do charge 2% using a credit card.

I've been past that place a number of times and only noticed it due to the crowds of people queuing there. For a few thousand rupiahs savings, I'd rather go to my local empty Kimia Farma :tongue:
