I will be in Bali for Nyepi March 2016. Happens that on that morning there will be a partial eclipse of the sun (about 80%).
Does anyone know if in Balinese Hindu culture the occurrence of a solar eclipse (or lunar eclipses when they present) have any special religious meanings?
no.idea
Most of them are not aware it will be happening. I have been letting people know for the last few months so they do not think something has happened when the sun is "late" in coming up.
Most of the Balinese do not even know when Nyepi day is going to happen. They have not quite figured out where the moon is involved in all of this.

I suppose its a bit like asking most Christians when Easter is next year they all wait for the calendars to appear for the year before they realise when Easter actually is. My guessing the same with the Balinese people they wait for the new calenders each year before they know red ink days.
