It is called "Grab Taxi" and can easily be ordered with a smartphone. Look in the playstore for "Grab Taxi Bali", download the app and register. I tried it today for the first time and was really impressed. The price was half of a metered taxi, the drivers have GPS so there is no trouble finding the location. And it is safe: After ordering you get the name of the driver, his phone number and the number of the car. And you can see on your phone, where the car is at the moment and how long it will take until arriving at the requested location.

I think they are like a clone of Uber. I have used Uber a couple of times and was happy with the service. The price seemed roughly the same price as blue bird, but generally a more pleasant experience than dealing with regular taxi drivers.

Just an example: With Grab Taxi the drive from Taman Mumbul, Nusa Dua to Echo Beach would be 81.000. And this is a quite long drive. From Nusa Dua to Ubud about 130.000 !
Yesterday night I booked a ride from a place in Jl. Melasti, Legian to Nusa Dua and it was half price of what I pay with Bluebird.
All cars I so far where new and clean.

Worked a treat. Dialled in the destination address. The app located the nearest taxis. I selected the nearest, just 1 minute away, which duly arrived promptly. It was a smart modern car with sat nav and a young female Balinese student driving. got us to the address in Seminyak without any hassle at all at the confirmed price of 56k. Receipt delivered by email minutes after arrival.
Thoroughly recommended !! Will be using the service again tomorrow.
