Hi there, I'm getting a business visa in Singapore, already have the telex thing set up. My agents here in Bali suggested to use their guy in Singapore to pick it up for us, would be faster too. I contacted the guy but no answer yet, so my question is can I use another agent in Singapore to pick it up for me and can someone recommend one? Or is doing it yourself easy and as fast?

Do it yourself - it's easy! There is no need to use an agent in Singapore at all - unless you are so desperate for time you want it all done in one mad get-up-at-sparrowfart-dash-to-the-airport--Singapore-agent-wait-agent-dash-to-the-airport--Bali-home-at-last-knackered stressful day!Your agents in Bali will explain what needs to be done. It's trivially simple and easy to do at the Embassy in Singapore.Read the 1st part of this (it's about Social Cultural Visas, but it's more or less the same routine at the Embassy for a business Visa):http://balipod.com/bali-visa-questions-answers-f42/how-i-used-diy-my-sosbud-visa-extensions-t9383.html- Go to the Embassy for maybe 30mins in the morning. Then go shopping - relax in Singapore - have a few pints of Guinness at the Penny Black - nice dinner somewhere. Next morning go sightseeing - nice lunch - Embassy at 3pm - get your passport - and your done!Hope this helps

Helps a lot, thanks. I already got a sosbud by myself earlier in KL s i know the basics, the only thing I'm a little it worried about is the fact that the sponsoring company is provided by the bali agency so I wouldn't know what to tell the embassy guys if they asked me about me exact business purposes with that company...

And of course I can't help you with this. If you are in Bali now then best go to the Bali agents and discuss this point with them. If not, then phone them.Never done a business visa so don't know about what they might ask. I've done 14 SOSBUDs and 1 (the first one) Retirement ITAS and they have never asked me anything.Good luck!

When did you contact the agent? It is Sunday, so you might not hear anything back until tomorrow morning. Why not call them in the morning? There are a few agents mentioned here: http://balipod.com/bali-visa-questions-answers-f42/visa-agents-singapore-t3813.html even though the thread is old. I have used Ismail before and never had a problem. All of them provide pretty much the same service for the same price.

What is the approximate price you'd think they should charge? It says S$260 on his card but I'm not sure if that's per person (2) or all together (keep in mind I already paid for the visa itself and would only need him to pick it up). Sorry if I'm being dim but there seems to be a lot of mixing and matching going on in this thread re: Social visa- care of Malik or some equally able agent in Singapore and Business visa, which if I understand those correctly must be applied for by your company and are issued in the country where you are coming from or Singapore if that is your choice - but I don't think you need an agent for those but just go to Indo embassy and pick it up? Not trying to demonstrate any knowledge of Business visas but having done many social visas I do have a certain understanding of that process and that seems to be getting mixed in here, but what do I know?
QuestionMark
You are right, the visa was set up by the company, had to be approved by the head immigration office in jakarta and got telex'd (whatever that is) to the embassy in Singapore. I now could pick it up myself or use an agent, only reason I'd prefer the latter is that I don't actually know the company that sponsors me all that well if you know what I mean. So it would be an embarrassing situation if the embassy staff asked me what I'm doing with/for the company to say the least. Getting the visa faster is a bonus and we're not talking bank breaking money here anyway, but obviously I'd rather save a dollar than not.

.... I haven't paid them yet, ..........keep in mind I already paid for the visa itself .....
Have you paid or not? To whom did you pay "for the visa itself"?
alex margou
.....return your passport to your hotel ....
If you are staying in a hotel then you are in Singapore for more than one day, so, why are you using an agent and not just doing it yourself?
QuestionMark
I haven't actually paid yet because I didn't have the money on me when I went to the agent's office in Bali for another issue and they had already fixed the visa by then which I didn't expect (and they didn't tell me either when I made the appointment). They gave me copies of the telex visa and let me know I can either pick it up in Singapore myself or use an agent. I'm paying them on Monday for the service of providing me with the sponsoring company, applying and paying for the visa, getting it approved in Jakarta and having Jakarta telex the Visa to the embassy in Singapore (which they all have done by now). So technically I haven't paid yet but since I'm not a scumbag I will, so for all intends and purposes I already paid for it (minus the actual transaction).Price was okish but not the best, I paid 3jt, saw it for 2.5 with other agencies but I'm happy with the one I use from previous dealings so didn't mind the extra 500k.It's the fee I'm (possibly) paying the guy in Singapore I'm not 100% sure is worth it since the asking price of $260 even if it's for two persons seems to be quite steep if compared for example with the thread linked by spicyayam where people say they paid $160 for a complete visa and not just a simple pick-up-job.

This visa is solely for doing business in Indonesia to purchase goods and export them elsewhere. It does not permit you to conduct business or to work or sell in Indonesia. If this is what you are seeking then read all the information shown on the pages for the Indonesian Embassy closest to your location in the country of your passport. It requires a letter of invitation from a person with whom you will do business in Indonesia, and also a letter from the company you are representing which states that they are good for covering your expenses while in Indonesia as well as your flight costs and a copy of your flight ticket. All must be accompanied by your passport and postage paid return addressed envelope. I believe that this MAY be handled in Jakarta maybe from Indonesia. The cost for this in the US is only $100. and pretty simple to follow and have never learned of double checking on anything. It is quite routine. Damned if I would go through the expense of an agent. This is what is referred to as Business Visa, and maybe you want something else.
QuestionMark
Pretty sure we're speaking about the same thing yes. I don't intend to work at all, I just choose this visa over a sosbud because I actually like to fly out every couple of weeks instead of being unable to leave for months (and yes if an opportunity presents I'd export stuff, it's really not my main concern though). I paid them so I could use their company to "sponsor" me. Pricing for this (visa plus company sponsorship) is in the same ballpark on all websites I checked and other agencies I asked.I agree asking for another 260 for the agent just to pick it up is too much though, that's why I came here. I'll speak with the balinese agency tomorrow and update :)

QuestionMark,My wife and I recently both got 12 month business visas. Just to let you know the process for us - we did the same as you and had an agent organise the visa, sponsor letter, telex etc. They emailed the docs to me and I simply went to the Indonesian Consulate in Sydney with our passports and they put the visas in there, they didn't ask any questions and it was very simple. We paid a similar fee to you to the agent in Bali (3jt) but this was just the agents fee to arrange the sponsor letter and telex from Jakarta. We still had to pay for the visa at the consulate ($165AUD each), which is listed on the consulates Australian webiste. I just had a quick look at the Indonesian Embassy website in Singapore and I think their fee for the business visa might be $S 140 here's the link KBRI Singapore - Multiple journey visaI would pick up the visa myself.
