In Darwin you need a return ticket, just check when you down load a application form. There is not restriction on how many times you entry/leave Indonesia.

Sydney Consulate requires an exit ticket to get the 60 day visa. He only needs to leave for one day; in fact he can return on the same day with a new 60 day visa from the Indonesian consulate in Singapore. To get it same day, he should use an agent in Singapore.

Until the next flight back or next ferry, there is no waiting time. This is from the sydney web site so you need a ticket. (Proof of a ticket in and out Indonesia, or a ticket to continue travel to another country.)

Jackie none of these government organs give a tiny toss about the validity of any of the papers that are laid before them. It's basically whether they can put a tick in the box of each of their silly requirements. Why am I telling you this? Well, an enterprising person might consider using an old email booking notification and changing the dates. But of course that would be highly irregular and no good citizen should do anything like this, should they?

I know that 30 odd years ago I needed an onward ticket out of Indonesia in order to get a visa (in advance) however, these days, I have never been asked for one. After all, one is given a 30 day Visa On Arrival at Denpasar Airport yet nobody asks for any proof of moving on.
Fred2
The airlines require you to show a return ticket out of Indonesia.I have been asked as my ticket was Bali-Brisbane-Bali, it took the manger (Brisbane) some time to understand I had a Kitas

Hi Jackie, I think Markit is correct, they're not actually that concerned with your travel arrangements, they just need to tick a box. Here's my advice, I've done this a few times now and had no problems, although I can't guarantee this will work for you or your son.1. Get a two month Tourist Visa from an Indo consulate or embassy in Australia. You'll need to write up your own itinerary that explains why you need a 2 month visa and that you'll be travelling out Indonesia via ferry and that's the reason you don't have a outbound ticket. Try Medan to Malaysia, that's plausible.2. After 1 month in Bali take your Passport to a Visa agent and ask them to "extend" your visa. This should cost you around AUS$60 - $100.What the agent will actually be doing is using your Tourist Visa as though it were a Sosial Budaya visa. The agent will just use themselves as your sponsor. This means you can extend the Visa up until 6 months. So you don't need to leave Indonesia at all. Apparently, the code number for the 2 month Tourist Visa and the Sosial Budaya Visa are the same.Hope that helps. Good Luck.

At worst, you should be able to book a Medan to Penang plane ticket via Internet. It's only 20 minutes so should be quite cheap. It worked for me a long time ago.Hi Jackie, I think Markit is correct, they're not actually that concerned with your travel arrangements, they just need to tick a box.
