In that case you might want to give Sanur a miss and go directly to the North Shore.
Sanur is much more upbeat than it was over 5 years ago when it was jokingly referred to as 'Snore'. I went to the Sanur festival and street parade just over a week ago and it was fun. Sanur still retains its village-centric ideals as the pavements are clean and the beachwalk mostly free of motorcycles but the shopping is more boutique, restaurants more upmarket, and there is night vibrancy but, consequently, more people.
You might wish to contact Markit who lives in Amed and is knowledgeable about nature and culture in the Karangasem area ...I've only visited.
