You must use a notary within a particular regency that is the location of the property or home where you are concerned. At least that is the case with the purchase and I believe long term leases apply. It probably applies to any matters involving real property, so if you identify the location you will undoubtedly have some help from forum members. Bob

lush4111 your last question just raised another one for me, thanx. Are notaries exclusive to their regency, locale etc, or does is it just sensible to use one with a more intimate knowledge with relationships in the area that you want to make transaction ?

Bali consists of 9 Regencies...https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/97/Bali-regions-map.jpg It is law that requires property transactions be conducted by a Notary whose business is registered in the same Regency as the property.

If you go to a notary in Badung to do a property transaction in Buleleng, the southern notary will work with a northern notary to get the job finished. So I guess costs will be a bit higher since you are feeding 2.

Cheers Hi Bob, In Sanur there is a corner where if you are traveling SW on Jl. Tamblingen you meet a statue in the middle of the intersection with Jl. Danau Poso. You keep heading straight (without hitting the statue) and within about a block you will see a sign on your right for a notaris. Her name is Nellis or something similar, and speaks fluent English, is extremely capable, and she ain't cheap. Bob

I have been told by a notaris that speaks fluent English, is married to an Irishman, and supposedly has/had the only doctorate in such law and lives in Bali that each regency has a little bit different legal language that is used in their particular regency and MUST practice in that regency alone. That doesn't mean (as Ron B. suggests) that you couldn't have a draft made by a notaris in one regency and used by a notaris as a suggested layout by a notaris in the regency to which he/she is domiciled and licensed to practice. It won't be in English, and it will be his/her accepted form for that regency. BTW, since you are in the Gianyar regency you fortunately have a notaris that understands English and has been quite capable for my needs. I don't have his name, but his office is on jl. Sangginen just across the street from Warung (or Rumah Makan) Dijon.

I'm sure there are dozens of them in L.A. they all have to be licensed for their area. I am sure they all have similar rules to follow.

Hello. I can't find the exact forum which I might be able to post this to so I thought this one was the closest match. Anyway, I need a few documents notarized by a notary public. They are photocopies of my graduation certificates and passports etc. Any ideas roughly how much it would cost to have these documents notairzed? Thanks!
