Draft bill could imprison couples co-habiting | Latest News From Bali | The Beat Daily A new criminal code presented to the parliament yesterday could see jail sentences imposed for couples living together outside of marriage. Article 488 of the criminal code, submitted by President Joko Widodo, applies to men and women living together and also criminalises specific acts which may be conducted by either homosexuals or couples of the opposite sex. The draft bill still gives scope to judges to decide whether to imprison couples or impose a maximum fine of Rp. 50 million. Homosexual couples may still live together, provided that neither is under-age. How do they intend to enforce it if its passed,are they going to have sex police come to peoples homes and watch to see if they are having sex in a acceptable way of kinky sex which is not allowed by the bill,also there are thousands of marriages in the muslim religion that are never registered,but are still a legal marriage within Islam,so I think its another one of these nonsence debates going on in parliament,surely they would be better served discussing the currency problem,and addressing the upcoming food shortage such as sugar,rice and many more because so many crops have already failed because of the drought,maybe this suits the government because if people are hungry because they cant afford to buy the imported food then they probably wont have enough energy to have sex of any kind,
