Hi, I am due to head up to Bali in a couple of weeks. I have been employed by a company there who will provide me with the necessary paperwork after one month, so I am able to go to Singapore and get a business visa. My dilemma at the moment is that I'm not sure when to book my initial return flight from Bali. I know that the tourist visa on arrival is for 30 days and that I should be able to extend that to 60. When I go through immigration on my arrival will they question me if I have a 60 day return ticket on a 30 day visa?? I would really appreciate some advise on this, as I need to book my ticket asap. Thanks, Carolyn
Fred2
No one will ask to site your return ticket, but if you over stay your visa you will be asked for money.A business visa is not a work visa & is only valid for 60 days & then you leave/return if it is a multi entry business visa.

I was there a few weeks ago with no return ticket to show them...the VIRGIN Airline crew asked to see it when I left Aus, and said If I had a credit card to show them that would suffice...right or wrong that's what happened for me...I was coming back jetstar so just did online ticketing....

Carolyn....welcome to the forum where you will get advice, but sadly, may not be the advice you want.First you need to make sure the job you are accepting is legal. Indonesia does not welcome those who can take employment from its own citizens. A 'business visa' is an incorrect visa for employment in Indonesia . It is for those employed elsewhere but need to visit Indonesia for consultations, meetings, displays.... etc.To be employed in Indonesia a foreigner needs a "work permit', called an IMTA, and your employer needs to pay the Govt Manpower agency US$1200/annum to get that permit. The Denpaser 'Hilton' jail is full of people that may have been victims of scams, whether drug or employment related....please do not be naive and add to to that occupancy.

Hi Davita, I appreciate the advise. I will be working for The Royal Karma group selling holiday ownership.I worked for a similar group 15 years ago who sent me to singapore to get my visa, I can't remember exactlywhat the visa was called, but I was given a kitas card.Royal Karma said they will send me to singapore with the paperwork after 1 month. Is a kitas the same thing as an IMTA?
Fred2
The kitas is for residence permit(Immigration), you are sponsored by the company for 12 months to stay in Bali. You then need a IMTA(Manpower), this is your work permit, without this you cannot work legally.I think Time share is banned in most countries now, I would make sure you have all your documents, visa's & contract signed before you do any work. There are no training periods or anythings to do. No IMTA No work. Your employer must provide all your document before you start, If you start without documents not only the company will be fined, you will also be fined & you may be banned from returning to Bali.

Carolyn......I don't want to pee on your obvious new adventure but I agree with Fred2 x 2. Please apply diligence to Indonesian law on foreigners work permit. Personally I think anyone involved in time-share should be locked up immediately whether they have the correct visa or not - just on general principles. What they are doing is cheating gullible (dare I say stupid?, hell, yes - fucking stupid) people out of their hard earned money and that is wrong! Carolyn, don't you think it's time to get a real job in a business with real human values - like maybe prostitute or prison guard? We need those people - but, time share salesmen? Think not. Have a nice day :tongue:Markit

Markit, blunt as usual!Basically, Carolyn, if you expect to sell 'holiday ownership' in Bali check out the legalities - NOTE: Bali is rife with property scams so many people are 'hardened & immune' to such schemes... so be sure you're on a fixed salary & not on a commission basis or you could starve to death (unless Market gets you 1st).Be careful, eh?
