davita Just saw on news it's closed till tomorrow... I left for Jakarta on Wednesday morning and purposely looked for the volcanic ash but saw nothing. I feel really sorry for all those poor people who've waited all year for their Idul Fitri visit home and getting cancelled due to a volcano erupting......I blame God...:indecisiveness:
Markit Various websites show Arrivals/Departures still for today but main NR website down (of course) and news reports 5 airports closed - have friends coming from SNG today but have gone for Lombok tomorrow to be sure - which is also listed as closed. As usual SNAFU.
spicyayam Just read they are opening again. Unfortunately too late for this poor family who now has to declare bankruptcy: Family 'broke' after Bali ash emergency
spicyayam And now a double shocker, a family missed their flight and a monkey ate their breakfast: Bali flight delays leave Melbourne family stuck in Indonesia with 'an hour's sleep, crying kids and a monkey eating our breakfast' - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Nydave Can those prices of $4,000 to fly one way to Perth be for real,is that the normal price for such a flight or are the airlines banging these people for more money just because they are stuck and will probably pay any price to get back home,it just seems very expensive to me,i flight from New York - Frankfurt - Singapore - Bali round trip open ticket for 6 months for $1,600-$1,700,thats around 23,000 mile round trip, from what I know my flight is a hell of a lot loneger mile wise and hours wise than flying to Australia, just seems like a very high price to me,but then again if I wanted to fly from New York to Ireland where im from and that's only aroung 3,500 miles they charge me around $900,if I need to get there on short notice it can be anything up to double that,
