balinews At least three office rooms at the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA) office at Jalan T.B. Simatupang, East Jakarta, were affected by a fire that took place on Saturday night, June 27, 2015. Rooms affected by the fire include the room to keep the case file of Engeline, a eight-year-old child who was killed at her stepmother’s house in Bali. Seto Mulyadi, the chairman of the national consulting board at Komnas PA and also a renowned child psychologist, confirmed that the fire has destroyed all documents containing data related to child abuse cases and other reports. “I deplored the incident because we kept records of child abuse cases here,” Seto said after visiting the scene on Sunday, June 28, 2015. According to Set, Engeline’s dossiers might be destroyed in the fire. However, the commission would recollect the documents from children protection activists and media. Seto declined to assume that the fire was linked to child abuse cases handled by the commission. Komnas PA chairman Arist Merdeka Sirait is one of the forefront activists who wants to expose the mystery behind Engeline’s death. “I don’t want to assume anything, and I leave everything to police,” Seto said.
