Today's Jakpost has imo a very good opinion letter headed 'Indonesian diaspora and dual citizenship: the benefits.'
It highlights that some 8 million previous citizens are abroad but still consider Indonesia as the 'motherland' and how, if granted 'dual', they would provide more in remittances and 'brain gain' and contribute more to diversify the community.
S. Korea changed their rules in 2010 and benefitted as did the Philippines in 2003.
There will be a Diaspora Congress meeting in Jakarta in August where this subject will be debated...it will be interesting to see the Indonesian Govt's reaction.
If offered, I'm sure some expats, married and with family in Indonesia, would be interested to acquire Indonesian Citizenship so long as not losing their original...I would.
