federica Hello, I would like to get marry in Bali, but without any legal transcription and the ceremony not being managed by those expensive companies that organize weddings in a western style. Actually we would like a balinese ceremony just in the traditional style, also in some unknown hidden village. Do you know someone who can help and arrange something like this? I lived in Bali many years ago (about 20 years ago), I know lot of things changed in the meanwhile, but I am wondering if something not commercial, let's say authentic, does still exist to live that experience. Thank you for any advice you can provide.
matsaleh If you have a Facebook page, a friend of mine is a marriage celebrant here in Bali. She can give you some ideas. https://www.facebook.com/heatherboylancelebrant
DenpasarHouse Good luck with your search, but I don't think you'll find anything. I'm guessing you and your partner are not practising Balinese Hindus, so I think that rules out an authentic ceremony right away. I'm sure there are Wedding planners that'll specialise in Balinese themed weddings though. When you were living here last time, did you actually do anything practical? Do you remember what it was like getting things done? Forgive my scepticism, but do you really want to deal with the chaos yourself? If you already speak Indonesian, then you'll be probably stumble through with most of your marbles. If not, well . . . this way madness lies.
