A task force comprising of Immigration, Military, Police and National Unity and Politics officers interviewed a number of foreigners who were believed to have abused the rights of their tourist visas on Wednesday 29 April.
It is understood, two foreigners, including an Australian and a Dutch national were allegedly operating businesses under tourist visas.
“This time we are targeting foreigners who reside in the tourist area of Sanur, involving a team to assess and determine the presence of foreign nationals and to improve discipline in the administration,” said a representative from the National Unity and Politics Unit, Ida Bagus Andika Putra.
The 34-year-old Australian, who was identified by the initials CLP, was reportedly operating an alcohol distribution business for the past three years, employing 10 local Sanur workers.
“For more than three years, she ran a liquor business; this requires a business permit not a tourist visa. We have secured her passport and are continuing the investigation at immigration,” said Putra.
The Dutchman, identified by the initials JH, was also under investigation, however once the task force reached the villa he was believed to have been occupying, the villa management refused to open the door.
It is understood he is in possession of correct residency documents however Immigration are suspicious over his alleged involvement in the management of villas.
“We expect the officials from all the villages to perform appropriate data collection and coordination with the National Unity and Politics Unit if there are any foreign nationals residing in their area,” added Putra.
