balinews Four Australian women are believed to be among the injured in a ferry explosion as an island-hopping boat made its way to Bali in Indonesia. The women were among 19 passengers injured on the fast ferry that was travelling to Bali from Lombok on Friday, the ABC has reported. There were 129 passengers on board the Wahana Gili Ocean 4 vessel at the time. The ABC reported that 11 passengers received burns and eight suffered broken bones but the extent of the injuries was unclear. They have been taken to hospital, authorities said. Local news service Antara News has reported there were two children on board the ferry, but they were uninjured. Chief of Police Water Police Unit Resort Lombok Barat Khairul Anwar confirmed that 11 people suffered burns and eight suffered broken bones. He said the explosion happened about 2.30pm local time (5.30pm EST). "The ship was on fire about 10 miles from the Port of Senggigi, or after 30 minutes sailing from the port," he told Antara News. He said the fast ferry caught fire after an explosion under the ferry's steering components. A second explosion sounded again on the deck of the left hull of the ship. Other reports have suggested a fuel line burst and the boat's engine exploded, causing the fire. He confirmed the ferry passengers were from Australia, Indonesia, Italy, USA, Spain, Canada, Britain, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Ireland, France and Germany.
