Bali police reportedly have a plan to train dogs that belong to residents in order to fight drugs according to reports. They are reportedly looking for dogs with a strong sense of smell to train with the dogs remaining with their original owners. “It’s still a discussion which of course we hope to get a positive response by the public, especially dog lovers in Bali. In Bali, a lot of people keep dogs, in this case of course, what is needed is a particular dog that has a strong sense of smell, especially for tracking drugs, “said Chief Inspector General of Police Ronny Franky Sompie. He said there were a few obstacles like finding appropriate dogs and financing the program according to Sompie. Bali police currently have six sniffer dogs and according to Sompie, they need the public’s help to eradicate drugs on the island.
