Reports are in that a team of 60 officers from Satpol and KUMKMP raided some 25 convenience stores in North Jakarta on Monday following issue of reg #6/2015 that beer etc can only be sold in supermarkets. Incredible that all those officers could only find 20 bottles to confiscate....must have been hot and humid work and IMO 20 divided by 60 wouldn't slate anyones thirst...:icon_wink: Better news is the Trade Minister has relented and his regulation will not be enforced on Bali....:distant:

Interesting. I checked a couple of Delta markets in Ubud over the weekend and both no longer sold alcohol. Circle K had only wine and a small supply of alcopops, strangely no more bintang...

Bintang have just released their 1st Quarter figures for 2015 and profits have dropped 41.27% year over year (over US$8M) and predict an even steeper decline in the 2nd quarter. This is a result of destocking due to the Gov't regulation 06/2015 restricting outlets to sell beer. Bintang (makes Bintang and Heineken beers) have postponed expansion plans and are looking to diversify as Bintang has never managed to penetrate any export markets. IMO there will a consequent lay-off of thousands of workers.
