To say it's not available in your area is rubbish and means you are dealing with some bogus mob. The thing about satellite Internet connection is that you can get it anywhere if you can point a dish up towards a geo-stationary satellite that may be a bit east or west of us. General info is at

Now you may think that sounds good and wonder why not many people in Bali are using it. The reasons are:
1. expensive
2. reasonable download speeds but slow upload
3. long latency - the distance travelled up to the satellite and then back down means everything is delayed by a third of a second or so. For Skype this is awful, for Internet banking and similar it is pretty bad, but for straight downloads, the latency is not a problem.
The internet we usually use is based on undersea cables so the distances are much shorter and the latency is acceptable - at least what we are used to.
