I don't know if this will be of any help, but in the village of Mengwi near Tabanan there is a large cattle market and pasar. Most maps show the site of the cattle market if you are unfamiliar with it, but across the street from the entrance is a large sign advertising a paving machine. It has a picture of the machine on the sign which resembles the machines we see on road construction projects.

Just to get you started - our street was re-surfaced 2 years ago and an information sign said the budget for the 4 Km of road was 4 billion. This was a good quality surface on a 2-lane road. So if you are thinking just a 1 lane road which we can guess is half the cost of 2-lane, you could be thinking Rp25,000,000. This budget included preparation works like stonework of ditches, and then used the big machines for the surface. If you did a road where they just sprayed with hot tar and covered with crushed metal no doubt it would be cheaper.

is it a public or privately owned road? If it was public I would be asking for contributions and perhaps it is best to let the banjar organize it.

it is in a village .. and the road .. as you can imagine is terrible .. My villa can only be accessed through the villa .If I can get a decent quote .. I would just go ahead and fix it

Are you suggesting you'll just take care of it yourself? Be careful, going over the head of the local Banjar may not work out well for you.

no ... of course not .. but It's getting nearly undrivable .. I donated cement 4 years ago .. but it really needs proper re-surfacing .. I know .. If I can at least have a company to quote me .. I can talk to them and .. go forward from there .. no one here .. seems to know any companies to approach

Fair enough.
It's probably still a good idea to ask the Banjar to organise the quote though, they're pretty petty about following the 'chain of command' . . . even though they're the ones dragging it. It'll probably turn out that the head of the banjar's brother has a road surfacing company, if you go ahead and get quotes without them you'll risk showing them up.

If you are located in Bali I agree with those that suggest contacting the Banjar Klein with your road surface issue...they are the Kings in Bali villages.

My advise is go to the klian but never ask them to do it for you
Some klian are honest and thankful, but I've met a few too many that feels that any project in their care is their own personal money making machine.
If you take care of it yourself with the blessing of the banjar, you can even ask for a little arrangement about how the road going to be use
