ANZ bank, is it easy to open an Indo acc, if an Oz ANZ customer

Has anyone any info about opening a Balinese ANZ account as an Australian ANZ customer , without a Kitas?

In indonesia it is the law who states that you need to have KITAS to be able to be holder of bank account in indonesia as foreginer ! Like many thinks in Indonesia law is one thing and real life totaly another ... Beside that .. I think ANZ bank here and in Australia is totaly different thing ! They operate as 2 totaly different banks ! It is just sort of name borrowing ! In Europe it was like that ! Austrian banks in countries other than Austria were just a name, connected only by name (they paid some sort of franchise fee for name/brand etc ..) I was thinking like ... Austrian ..what is more secure than Austrian bank ! But Nope .. just a sticker ! I think it is same in indonesia ! furthermore those big names might require you more mumbo jumbo upon documents and papers .. for example when Indonesian citibank told me what are the requirements to open bank acc with them ... and benefits (risk included) are same as any other I just told them Thank you byee!

You can actually open a bank account here without a KITAS. However as odez999 states the law tells us different. I have different bank accounts in Indonesia and simply transfer money from the ANZ account in Oz to the account here. I have a limit of $10,000 per day. This costs $22 to transfer and generally takes 3 days to complete the transfer.

So what is the answer to marklinsay question ? I have seen responses on this forum ( albeit older posts) that you can open an ANZ account in Bali if you have an OZ ANZ account !? More updated info would be greatly appreciated as I am looking for the answer too.

Not sure with ANZ. Many people with Commonwealth account in Oz obtain a letter from their branch and open Commonwealth at Kuta branch. This enables you to use the many cwlth atm's around Bali. I have an Indonesian bank account with sosbud I can't transfer from my Oz bank because last step requires me to enter a number from the token sms which of course is sent to my Oz mobile number. I don't enable roaming and like most people use my local sim. I have been transferring through world remit. The money often arrives same or next day. Costs me about $25

Thanks Normy that is the information I required. I actually meant Commonwealth Bank ! Havent heard of that kind of token SMS for transfers, I get a SMS when I use my CC for online purchases , but my bank send it in an email also. All of our current banking is in Dubai , bar a few token accounts in OZ. Just thought it would be easier to have a Bali bank account for while we are staying there.
