Markit Wouldn't it be a good thing to lodge a formal complaint with PLN as this guy apparently works for them? Perhaps silly me, but if you want this guy to stop doing it that would be one way - rather than asking here if anyone else has been shafted by him!?! Cause if you don't then it's only gonna be a matter of time before you do get an affirmative answer here on the forum - and that will be your fault then too, won't it?
no.idea A few years back I happily paid my PLN bill every month. After 12 months they came with the total bill for the same period. Despite showing them receipts and the fact that there was a computer mistake within their system I had no choice but to pay the entire year again.
moondogy Dont know if this has happened to anyone else out there, but in November I forgot to leave enough money in our Mandiri Account for the PLN direct debit. So about 10 days after the payment was usually due, and I was still unaware that the account was low, a guy in a PLN shirt comes to the house with a wad of white documents, and fishes out our name and account details, and tells us we havent paid for November and the power will be cut. OMG....panic! OK...no problems.....how kind of you to come and tell us! We ask him to wait, we go to nearest ATM and withdraw from another account the amount due.....about 2.5juta....return to the house and pay him the cash. He signs off on the white piece of PLN paper that he has...copy for me, copy for him, leaves his phone number on it, saying if there are any problems to call. Power stays on......we deposit more cash into Mandiri account for next month..........then we go to Australia for Xmas/New Year. On return from Australia I check our Mandiri account for transactions...and PLN has debited us in December for what appears to be double the normal amount. There is no cash credit to offset this. Hmmm.......so last week I go to PLN Kuta, with all my ID and note from the contractor and after 27 people umm and arrh about it, they say "sorry....He does not work for us, he is contractor, and you SHOULD have come to PLN office at the time or an ATM and paid that way. Great. Interesting that he wears a PLN shirt, but PLN now distance themselves from him! So I call the phone number on the white slip of paper that he has left with me....and he insists that he has paid PLN in November, that he is not lying, and that the problem is with PLN. I smell a rat! Long story short....after I threaten a formal complaint being lodged with PLN and involving the Polisi....he appears at my door 2 days later with the cash in hand and looks very sheepish. I suspect he maybe makes a habit of this from time to time and thought as I was a "bule dinosaur" I would possibly never realise the situation and he would be home Scott free! Nup. If this should happen again I will go to ATM or PLN direct! Interested to know if anyone else has had this problem?:icon_e_biggrin:
gtrken One of the few bonuses of having pre paid PLN. Go to the ATM, get the receipt, come home, punch the number in and voila , it is done. And now you can get prepaid for up to 5 juta in one go. Cheers Ken Kennetha Kost - Home
ferdie Yup, he must have works for one of PLN's subcontractors. FYI: Indonesian's often gets the same treatment, the subcontractors were hired only to seal the meter or to cut the line if the bill was unpaid for a couple of months, but there are steps from only deactivating the meter, pull out the mcb until completely removing the meter. The normal guys would receive the money plus some incentives from the customers (totally not his job desc and authority but its a habit for a long time, good methods for the guy to earn extra money) and then he will pay the bill after he happily received the incentives. However the greedy ones will take away all your money without settling the bill and left the customers to deal with their trouble afterwards:grumpy:
